Grace Castello

Grace Castello, 89, passed away peacefully on September 4, 2016 in the comfort of her home with her loving family at her side. She was born on August 31, 1927 in Frankfort, N.Y. to the late Samuel and Cora Inman Edwards . She was a graduate of T. R. Proctor High School in Utica.
On July 12, 1947 she was united in marriage with Frank Castello in St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Church in Utica, a union filled with love and devotion for 47 years until his death on July 11, 1995.
For several years, Grace was employed as a Loan Clerk with Homestead Savings Bank in Utica, retiring in 1990.
Grace was the true definition of a dedicated family woman. Her husband, children and grandchildren gave her much joy over the years. She loved being outside and until recently, would enjoy her daily walks through her neighborhood. She was also a devoted New York Mets fan.
Grace is survived by her two daughters and son in law, Elaine and Ron Hawley and Barbara Jones, all of Utica, her seven grandchildren, Shawn Hawley (Stephanie Paine), Nicole Hawley, Joshua Castello, Jeremiah Castello, John Paul Castello, Harley Jones and Trevor Jones, her sister, Alice Leitz of Frankfort, her brother in law, Norman Castello of Utica and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, son, Jack Castello on April 21, 2008, her sisters Ethel Hayes and Anna Christensen and her brothers, Harry and Roger Edwards.
Her family would like to thank Hospice and Palliative Care Inc. for the compassion and care given Grace during her final days at home.
