Peter W. Johnson 1953-2017

Peter W. Johnson, 63, passed away on March 17, 2017 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center. He was born in Utica on April 7, 1953 to the late Warren and Eleanor Donovan Johnson and was a 1971 graduate of Notre Dame High School. Peter went on to earn his Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from Connecticut College in 1976.
On May 24, 1984, he was united in marriage with Randi Jones in Historic St. John’s Church in Utica and together they built a strong relationship based on mutual love and respect.
Peter was employed as a Claims Representative for the Social Security Administration in the Utica Office, retiring in 2015 after 35 years of service.
He enjoyed participating in Fantasy Baseball as a member of the No Name League and was also an avid gardener and collector of model trains and race cars.
Peter is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 32 years, Randi, his daughter; Emily Johnson of Pulaski and her companion Ron Goodnough, his two sons; Robert W. and Stephanie Johnson of Vernon Center and Shawn Johnson of CA. and his companion Chi Dang, two cherished grandchildren; Rowyn Johnson and Jacob Johnson of Vernon Center, his three sisters; Kathy and Ned Murphy of Racine, WI., Susan and Dr. Scott Yeaw of Nazareth, PA. and Anne Johnson of CA., his two brothers; Warren “Skip” Johnson of AZ. and Robert Johnson of IL., his in laws; Cindi and Michael Manzer of New Hartford, Connie and Sam Cavo of Frankfort and William Jones of Holland Patent and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was also blessed with many friends, especially Mark Warren of CT.
He was predeceased by his sister; Maureen Johnson.
Calling hours will be Friday morning from 9-11 at the Smith Funeral Home, 3022 Oneida St. Sauquoit with Peter’s funeral service following immediately at 11:00 with Father John Buehler officiating.
