Carol English Twitchell, 77, passed away on March 24, 2017 at Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare.
She was born on December 25, 1939 in Utica to the late James H. and Ruth O’Neil English and was a 1958 graduate of Sauquoit Valley Central School.
On October 3, 1998, she was united in marriage with Jerry Twitchell in Grace Episcopal Church in Mohawk.
Prior to her retirement, Carol was employed with United Health Care.
She and Jerry spent many enjoyable summers camping and fishing at Lewey Lake State Campground and was also active in the Tuesday night bowling league at State Bowling in Ilion.
Carol was a member of Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church in Frankfort and Wicks-Staley Post 231Ladies Auxiliary in Clayville where she served in many offices including President.
She is survived by her devoted and loving husband of 18 years, Jerry, her step-daughter; Melissa Twitchell and her companion Chad McManus and Melissa’s daughter Alyssa of Ilion, her step-son; Robert and Edie Twitchell of Ilion, her sister and brother in law; Sheila and Michael Scholl of Sauquoit, her brothers and sisters in law; James and Carol English of Clinton, Donald and Ellen English of Vian, OK. and Dennis and Carol English of Utica and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her grandson; Jared McManus and her nephew; Jimmy English.
Calling hours will be Wednesday, March 29 from 4-7 at the Smith Funeral Home, 3022 Oneida St. Sauquoit.
Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 11:00 at Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church, 414 Frankfort St., Frankfort NY. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Clayville in the spring.
Her family would like to thank the nurses on the 6th floor at Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare and also to Dr. Samir DeSai and his staff for the excellent care she received from them all.
