Philip F. Passalia, 79, passed away unexpectedly at home on April 11, 2017. He was born in Filadelfia, Calabria, Italy on October 4, 1937 to the late Bruno and Elisabetta Gaudino Passalia. Philip came to this country with his family in 1948 and completed his education in local schools.
Prior to his retirement in 1994, he was employed as a turret-lathe machinist with Bendix Corp.
Philip loved being outdoors and spent many enjoyable days golfing, hunting and fishing. He also was a connoisseur of fine food with a special love of greens and beans.
Always close to his heart was the memory of his longtime companion, Marilyn Johnson who passed away on November 2, 2008.
Surviving him are his loving children; Laurie Benn of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Joni L. Johnson of Richmond, VA., Randy and Valerie Johnson of Charlotte, N.C. and Mark and Traci Johnson of Richmond, VA., his devoted brother; Peter Passalia of Chadwicks, his sisters; Catherine and Joseph Baggetta of Herkimer and Lauderdale on the Lakes, FL. and Mary Carchedi of Norwood, MA., his dear friends; Tom and Jill Spellman and Rick Renodin and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Philip was predeceased by his brother; Antonio Passalia and his friend; Ed Francis.
Calling hours will be Saturday, April 15 from 10-12 at the Smith Funeral Home, 3022 Oneida St. Sauquoit with services following immediately at 12:00 with Rev. Abraham Esper officiating.
Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
