Otto Schlaepfer, 66, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family and friends on April 27, 2017. He was born in Utica on May 22, 1950, a son of Conrad and Margrit Mueller Schlaepfer and was a 1968 graduate of Sauquoit Valley Central School.
Farming was Otto’s lifelong passion. He was a proud, hardworking farmer and thoroughly loved his home and farm.
He is survived by his mother, Margrit Schlaepfer of Switzerland, his four daughters; Michele (Shellie) and Michael Spataro of Cicero, NY, Mary Anne and Jeremy Woodman of Sauquoit, Melissa Schlaepfer and Gerard Goings of Cassville and Laura Schlaepfer and Joseph DiNigro of West Winfield, his son; Jonathan Otto Schlaepfer Sr. of Cassville, his nine grandchildren; Joseph Spataro, Anthony Spataro, Gianna Spataro, Joseph DiNigro, Carly Woodman, Jonathan O. Schlaepfer Jr., Nicholas Woodman, Dezirae Schlaepfer and Emily Woodman, his sister; Erica Frueh Schlaepfer and Hans Peter of Switzerland, his brother, George Schlaepfer of Clayville, his nieces; Katrina Frueh and family, Rebecca Guisolan and family and Andrea Ladina Frueh as well as many great nieces, nephews and friends.
He was predeceased by his father; Conrad Schlaepfer.
Calling hours will be Sunday, April 30 from 1-5 at the Smith Funeral Home, 3022 Oneida St. Sauquoit.
Interment and funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.
