Mary Ruth Smith, 100, a long-time resident of Sauquoit, died November 8, 2017 at The Presbyterian Home in New Hartford.
Born November 19, 1916 in Sauquoit, she attended school in Sauquoit.
On September 15, 1930 she was united in marriage with Kenneth Smith. He passed away on December 29, 1992.
She was employed as a waitress at Orchard Hall, the Turkey Farm in Washington Mills and as a school bus driver for the Sauquoit school system.
Ruth spent her life taking care of others. She was loved by many for her selfless caring and assistance. Ruth enjoyed cooking, knitting and reading. She loved and spoiled her many Boston Terriers.
She was predeceased by her daughter Barbara Roselle in 1981; her sisters Elizabeth Thompson, Katherine Morgan, and Bernice Gribnau; and her brothers Charles Cook and George Cook.
Ruth is survived by her nephew, Steven Gribnau and his wife Linda of Vermont, her niece Carolyn Gribnau of North Carolina, her great niece Leslie Pcolinsky and her husband Brad and their son Jacob of Oneida Lake and many other nieces and nephews that brought great joy to her later years.
A graveside service will be held at Crown Hill Memorial Park, Clinton, NY in the spring.
