Roger J. Kiefer 1935-2018

Roger J. Kiefer, 82, passed away on January 3, 2018 at the St. Luke’s home.
He was born in Utica on June 15, 1935 to the late Joseph W. and Kathryn Kennedy Kiefer and was a graduate of Chadwicks High School.
Roger proudly served his country with the United States Marine Corp from 1954 until 1957 and for 38 years was employed by Special Metals. After his years with Special Metals he worked for a short time for NCS Medical.
He was a member of both the New Hartford American Legion Post 1376 and the Marine Corp League.
Roger is survived by his daughter and son in law; Linda and Robert Humiston, his son and daughter in law; Mike and Sharon Kiefer and 5 granddaughters.
He was predeceased by his sister Gloria Kiefer and his brothers Ed and Don Kiefer.
Roger’s Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, January 8 at 10:00 at St. Patrick’s-St. Anthony’s Church in Chadwicks. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Whitesboro.
Calling hours will be Sunday from 2-4 at the Smith Funeral Home, 3022 Oneida St., Sauquoit.
